HUD’s Office of Multifamily Housing sent out the following information on October 21, 2024:
Multifamily Housing invites interested parties to join a virtual stakeholder listening session on Tuesday, October 29th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EST to share their feedback on the Solar, Cell Tower, and Other Rooftop Leases Notice, which was posted to the Multifamily Housing Policy Drafting Table on October 10, 2024. This draft Notice outlines Multifamily’s requirements for on-site solar systems, cell towers, and rooftop commercial leases.
HUD is interested in hearing from attendees on the approval process proposed in the Notice, with a special interest in feedback related to the requirement included in the Notice that Owners must undertake initial utility consumption and emissions benchmarking within 18 months of placing a solar electric system that will provide on-site energy to the Project. HUD is also interested in feedback from solar and cell tower vendors regarding the provisions in the “HUD Multifamily Solar, Cell Tower, and Rooftop Lease Rider,” which is found in Appendix B of the draft Notice. Individuals are also encouraged to submit written comments to assetmanagementpolicy@hud.gov with the subject line, “Rooftop Leases Drafting Table Feedback” using the worksheet provided by November 10, 2024.
If you would like to participate, please register for the listening session by October 29th at 10 am EST using this link.
